I will readily admit (and Nathan will vouch for it) that Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I am, quite unashamedly, one of "those people" who pulls the Christmas decorations out as soon as Thanksgiving is over, likes to listen to Christmas music starting in mid-November, and could spend hours driving around looking at tacky Christmas light displays. This year, before Georgia was born, I toyed with the idea of not putting up a tree--we would have a new baby, we are spending Christmas with family, etc...Nathan looked at me and said, "If we don't, you'll cry about it later." He was right, and our tree went up the day after Thanksgiving!
My family had wonderful Christmas traditions, too many to detail here in one post, though I may try to blog about a few of them over the next week. My mom and dad instilled in each of us children a love of the Advent season, as well as feelings of awe and anticipation. Our anticipation of Christmas morning mirrors the anticipation Christians should have for the return of King Jesus. In a short story/graphic novel format, Not What I Deserve explains the preciousness of the gift of Jesus that we celebrate at Christmas. Please check it out!
