He Passed!
As some of you know, Nathan has been in an intensive German seminar for the Ph.D. program. It met 4 hours a day for the past ten days, which is why Nathan was unable to travel with me for my grandmother's funeral. At SEBTS the Ph.D. required languages are just Pass/Fail, except this German class is so hard it has a middle catagory called "Conditional Pass." If you get a Conditional Pass you have to complete an additional translation and will then be considered to have passed the class. Nathan has been studying hard, because languages are not his favorite (with apologies to those who love languages). He took the final yesterday, and, quite frankly, was just praying for a Conditional Pass. Late yesterday afternoon we learned the greatest news--Nathan passed German out right! No more German! And, since he has completed proficiency in his languages, he can proceed through the next phase of his Ph.D. program. It looks like we are on track to graduate in May 2008! Nathan and I just praise the Lord for guiding him through this hurdle.

Congratulations!!! As another one who is not so fond of languages, I can't even imagine how hard that would have to be.
