Church Nursery, Sleep Habits, and More

*Georgia went into the nursery at church for the first time this Sunday. Yes, I know--she is four months old and we are just now putting her in the nursery! We intended to start after Christmas, but things kept happening...Anyway, we finally took the plunge this week. It was hard--Georgia's morning nap falls right during Sunday School time, but she of course wasn't able to sleep much in a new place. Apparently she started to nod off, they tried to put her in a crib, and she melted down! The workers were about to get me from Sunday School when I came down to nurse her. Thankfully she calmed down, and slept for most of the worship service. Thanks to Becky and Jennifer, her Sunday School teachers, and to Tina, who graciously held Georgia for the entire hour and a half that the worship service lasted on Sunday (it ran long)! Since it was Georgia's first day, we will give her grace:-)

*People always ask how Georgia is sleeping. I definitely think it is something we parents obsess over! Georgia has a strange habit: she will sleep really well for several nights in a row, usually enough to make us think she is forming a new habit, and then something will throw her off and she will have a couple of bad nights. For example, last week she had five nights in a row of 9 hours of sleep. Nathan and I were rejoicing; after all, *everyone* says that it only takes 3-4 days for a baby to set a habit or pattern. After five nights of this, she slept only 6 in a row the next night. AND the following two nights, she woke up after only about 3 hours of sleep. It is very rare for us to be able to put her back down to sleep in the middle of the night without my nursing her. Once I feed her, though, she goes right back to sleep, which is a blessing. So my question is--is this normal? Is there such a thing as normalcy for infants? At what point can I say in good conscience that she is sleeping through the night--when she does it more often than not? Oh well. Last night, she slept 9+ hours again, so the pattern is starting over:-)

*One last little rant--someone should warn pregnant women that their hair changes multiple times during and after their pregnancy! In the middle of my pregnancy, my hair grew rapidly, developed more body and volume and "pouffiness" that it had never had before. However, almost immediately after Georgia was born, my hair regained an oily-ness that I hadn't seen since early teenager years-it was like a oil slick on my head! And now, four months after Georgia's birth, I am losing hair like a middle-aged man. I am shedding EVERYWHERE, and frankly, it is a little gross. There is hair all over my floors, my shower, my clothes--sometimes even in my food:-( My hair dresser warned me about this...however, she didn't tell me when I could expect it to stop...
