Georgia at Eight months (3 weeks late!)

I realized recently that I never gave a monthly update for Georgia's 8 month! She was 8 months old on June 21, and we are only 10 days away from her 9 month birthday--I can hardly believe that.

Better late than never: Georgia's life at 8 months--
Her first tooth (lower left) broke through, showing up just in time for cute 'toothie' pictures at Sears for Mom's birthday. Her second tooth (lower right) broke through about ten days ago. From the way she has been recently acting, we suspect that her upper teeth may not be too far behind!

There is no crawling yet, but in her eighth month Georgia has learned to scoot almost anywhere on her belly by pulling with her arms and pushing with her feet. She frequently scoots backwards, ending up stuck under a chair or couch, or, during a visit to a friend, backing herself completely under a crib! We don't think crawling or walking will be too far away. Part of her scooting around has caused her to perfect the flipping from one side to the other. Georgia can roll over like a charm! Last week for three mornings in a row when we went to get her she was on her tummy (she had been a back sleeper). Now we put her on her tummy to sleep, and we think it helps her sleep more soundly!

Georgia drinks well from a sippy cup now, and loves to suck down her water! She can hold the cup by its handles, but has not been able to tilt it up to really get good sips of water. She can pinch Cheerios with her finger and thumb, but they don't always end up in her mouth. She nurses four times a day, and eats one "real meal" of baby cereal and fruit/veggie a day.

Georgia has learned to clap her hands--it was first demonstrated consistently as she sat on the steps at my mom's pool. She had clapped before, but she has really got it down now. She also likes to shake her head back and forth--but that doesn't mean "no". Her sounds are increasing, but there are no distinguisable words yet.

Nathan and I are daily amazed at how much she is changing, growing, and developing her own little personality. Stay tuned for more information (and hopefully, a nine month update that comes much sooner!).
