I have been guessing for a couple of weeks that she weighed twenty pounds, and I was right! Thanks to Georgia, I have some NICE muscle definition in my arms that I never had before:-)
This month has been an amazing month of "firsts" for Georgia: first trip to the beach, first trip to the swamp (my family reunion), first crawl, first fall, first climb up the stairs...and more! Having a little girl who is crawling and pulling up and determined to explore her world is loads of fun every day--and completely exhausting:-) I am completely amazed at how much Georgia has accomplished in just over a week. At her doctor's appointment on Wednesday, I commented to the doctor that though Georgia has a great pincer grip, she doesn't put her food in her mouth. She picks it up, studies it, and drops it on the floor. "She doesn't put things in her mouth much" I said. Well, I spoke too soon; that afternoon, I looked down at Georgia to see her chewing on something she picked up off the floor. Needless to say, that opened up a whole new world of eating for her!
Ten days ago, Georgia crawled across the room. She proceeded to get faster and more adept at her crawling, loving every minute of it. On Wednesday, Georgia learned to conquer the first step on our staircase. She also fell off that stair, and bonked her head on the floor. I was a good mom, cuddling her and kissing her and telling her it would be all better. Georgia was a good kid, and went straight back to climbing the offending stair. A few minutes after her fall, I was changing her diaper and realized that not only had she "bonked" her head--she gave herself a horrible bruise on her forehead. I had to be comforted some when Nathan came home:-)
One stair was of course not enough, and by this past Friday (just two days ago), Georgia was climbing the stairs. We had purchased two baby gates, only to learn that they were flimsy and defective. So yesterday Nathan and I made the trek down to Babies R Us to find a more reliable baby gate (warning: DO NOT go to Babies R Us on a Saturday--it is CRAZY!). We tried out the baby gate last night, much to Georgia's chagrin. What, a barricade to all her fun?
Her vocal skills are improving, though Nathan and I are still not certain we have heard her first word. Karen is certain that Georgia said "Book" while she was at the Lytles' house, but of course, Nathan and I haven't heard her say it! She does a great "dadadadada" and "mamamamamama", which is fun.
The last thing we have really noticed is how Georgia has changed from a little baby into a little girl. I know we are terribly prejudiced, but she is absolutely beautiful, and looking more like a gorgeous little girl every day. Every day we are amazed at this precious gift of God, and burdened by the responsibility to raise her in a way that honors and glorifies God, and points her to Him. It is our prayer that Georgia will grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that she will one day know Jesus as her Rescuer and Savior, who loves her with a Never-Stopping kind of love.
Now, for what you really want--the pictures!!!!!!
Georgia is loving her improving eating skills! Also, check out the beautiful bruise on her forehead:

Georgia is saying, "What, a barricade? Do you really think this will stop me?" The green mat on the floor is to hopefully prevent more bruises...we hope
Our baby Georgia is growing up into a little girl. She looked so beautiful today that I had to share pictures:
