Baby Update: Week 10/11

As you can see by the cute little "ticker" at the top of the page, I am almost 11 weeks pregnant. One quarter of this pregnancy is behind me! Yippee! I apologize for not posting about the baby sooner, but we are closing on our house and moving next week, and life has been rather busy preparing for that.

Nathan and I went to our first doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago, actually, and I simply haven't blogged about it! Whoops! I wanted to scan the ultrasound pictures first, but I still have not done that, so I decided to post without them. Maybe soon I can get those scanned in so everyone can see Baby Finn.

The doctor's appointment was great. We are going to a new practice--my old practice dissolved last year and all the doctors went different ways. The doctor I am using is from my old practice, but he was not my primary OB/GYN. However, Nathan and I love him! In the practice it is just two doctors, so I will see my doctor at every visit barring some emergency. He has delivered 95% or more of his patients since he joined the practice, so no guessing as to which of 4-6 doctors will be on call when I go into labor. His wife is his nurse, which is just as cute and sweet as can be, and they are believers. It has the feel of being a smalltown practice in a big city, and Nathan and I enjoy that.

At the doctor's appointment, we had our first ultrasound and we were able to see the baby and hear the baby's heartbeat! I don't remember hearing Georgia's heartbeat that early--8 weeks--though I remember seeing it on the ultrasound. It was a wonderful experience! I am definitely pregnant, and there is only one baby :-) Baby Finn's size was right on track, as was the heartbeat. I am so blessed to have been entrusted with this precious life to carry, and to deliver, and to raise.

Now, the big question--my due date! I am due the last weekend of September. I was 8 days late with Georgia, so I am just planning on this baby arriving at the beginning of October. I learned with Georgia's pregnancy that due dates are like pirate's code--they are more like guidelines! This baby will come when ready, and we can't wait for that!

So far this pregnancy, I have not been sick. With Georgia, I had what Nathan and I dubbed "weekend sickness"--I was fine during the week but on the weekends I could not keep any food down. That didn't start happening until my 10th week with G. So far, nothing like that has occurred. I have felt occasionally queasy, and frequently tired, but overall I have nothing to complain about! I hope this continues, or at least lasts until after we are moved in to our new home next week. I am, however, battling a cold, and would appreciate your prayers as I try to pack my belongings, chase a toddler, and blow my nose at the same time.

As soon as I can get my ultrasound pics scanned, I will post them for Baby Finn's pictorial debut!
