A typical day

Are there such things right now? If there was a typical day for us, here is how it might look:

7 a.m.--Both kids wake up. Nathan gets in the shower, I take kids downstairs and feed Baxter.

7:30 a.m.--If we are all doing well, Nathan, Georgia and I might eat breakfast together around the table :-)

8:30 a.m.--Nathan leaves for work

9 a.m.--I put Baxter down for a nap in his crib (or just let him nap in his swing), put Georgia in her room, and grab a shower. Often come out of said 5 minute shower to hear both children fussing. If kids are okay, I use this time to straighten up or put laundry away

10 a.m.--Nurse Baxter

11/11:30 a.m.--Put Baxter back down for a nap in his crib (Lord willing!), hang out with Georgia

12:30 p.m.--Nathan comes home for lunch; Nathan, Georgia and I sit down to lunch together while Baxter naps

1/1:30 p.m.--Feed Baxter

1:30 p.m.--Put Georgia down for her nap (often, Nathan will put Georgia down for her nap before he goes back to work and while I am nursing Baxter)

2/2:30 p.m.--Put Baxter down for a nap

2:30 p.m.--I lay down for a nap myself

3 p.m.--Baxter wakes up fussing, I attempt to calm him, and more often than not, take him to my room where we nap together (the baby sleeping much more soundly on me than not)

4 p.m.--Everyone awake, Baxter gets to eat again, Georgia plays in the living room, usually dumping out all of her toys

5 p.m.--Nathan is home, and we sit down for dinner

6 p.m.--Time to catch up on the WRAL News; this is just relaxing time. Baxter is usually snoozing in his swing.

7 p.m.--Georgia's bath time

7:30 p.m.--Georgia's bed time/Baxter nurses again

7:45 p.m.--Nathan, Baxter and I have quiet time in the evening to watch television, a movie, or read. I try to keep Baxter awake most of the time so he will sleep better through the night.

9:15/9:30 p.m.--Baxter's last feeding (HA!)

10 p.m.--Baxter and grownups to bed...we hope...

2 a.m.--Baxter wakes up to eat, and goes back to sleep. On good nights, he doesn't wake up again until 6:30 or 7. On "bad" nights, he wakes up again at 5 a.m. to eat.

And so goes our day. Goodness, when I type all of that out, I don't do much more than nurse my baby and put him down for naps! Such is the life right now:-) But it is worth it for this cuteness:

Question of the day: why does a six week old baby who sleeps perfectly well in his crib at night not like napping in his crib during the day? Georgia went through this phase as well, I think, but I may have blocked it out of my mind:-)

Hi Leah!! This is Christina(from POH) and I love reading your blog! (and I laughed at your blog-stalker comment on Hollie's blog. There is no shame in blog stalking!!) Love your nursing covers and other cute goodies. Anyways - about sleep. First of all, be SO thankful that Baxter will sleep in the crib at night. It took us quite a while to get to that point. Second of all, my first napped well in his crib from early on. Well, earlier than my second at least. Adeline (2nd child, 8 months now) took FOREVER and I gave up and didn't push it until she was about 6 months old. She still took naps and very regular ones, it was just on the dryer. :) All that to say - it will come. I'm firm believer that sleep is developmental and like other developmental milestones, all babies do things at different times.
