Baxter has slept through the night four nights in a row! We praise the Lord for this development in his sleeping habits. Here is a brief explanation to show how good God is.
Baxter woke up every night to nurse, any time usually between 3 and 5 a.m. It varied from night to night, and I wasn't too worried about it. However, if he woke up before 3 a.m., he would wake up twice to nurse--i.e., if he woke up at 2:30 a.m., he would wake up again at 5 to nurse. Sunday night we kept Baxter out late at church, and he had a hard time falling asleep that night. He woke up twice for the first time in ages, and I nursed him both times. Monday night was better, and he only woke up once. Tuesday night Baxter started crying at 2:30 a.m. I told Nathan that I just couldn't nurse him twice again. We decided to let him cry...and he slept until 7 a.m.! We were thrilled! Wednesday night we decided that if he cried, no matter what time he cried, we would let him cry for a little while. He woke up around 3, cried briefly and fell back asleep. And here is the wonderful thing--for the past two nights, he has not woken up at all! Baxter has slept from 9:30 p.m.-7/7:30 a.m. for two nights. Praise the Lord! It is very exciting. Our daytime schedule will have to change some to reflect this new sleeping habit, but I am okay with that. Please be praying that Baxter will continue his great sleeping habits even while we are out of town for a week.
