"Tree fall down!"

Shortly after we moved into our home last March, we realized we had a dead tree in our back yard directly behind our tree fort. The bark was completely stripped from this tree, and we knew it was just a matter of time...

Then a couple of months ago, while walking around the back yard, Nathan discovered that the tree had cracked near its base, and had fallen. Thankfully, it caught in the upper branches of another tree, but it would not take much for it to finish crashing down, tearing up our tree fort and our neighbor's fence in the process. So last Monday we had a crew of men come out and take the tree down. Georgia and I stood on the deck and watched them throw ropes around the tree, cut it off at the base, and lower it to the ground. It was really cool to watch the process, as Georgia yelled, "Tree fall down!"

The base of the tree was behind our tree fort--you can see the gentleman had just cut the tree free so they can lower it to the ground.

When we moved in we had to have a tree cut down, a very high branch removed from another tree, and a fallen tree removed from the yard. That was my first indication of the expense of homeownership!
