Last night, we had an answer to prayer that many of my blog readers didn't know we were praying, but I am so thrilled I had to share.
Baxter stopped taking a bottle two weeks ago. He is not exclusively bottle fed, but we try to give him a bottle once or twice a week, and he has always been a champ at taking it. We had a date night two weekends ago, and he took a bottle just fine for our babysitters. Then, a few days later, Nathan watched Baxter while I got a hair cut, and he refused to take a bottle for Nathan. We tried again at least two more times, with Baxter playing with the bottle, gnawing on the bottle, and pushing it away. Nathan and I both were very frustrated. It is not something that we cannot work around, but it is still aggravating when it comes out of the blue like this. But last night, Nathan sent me out of the house (to the coffee shop, and to walk around Target! What a great hubby!) and attempted a bottle for the third or fourth time. And Baxter finally took it. Praise the Lord!
The key to Baxter taking a bottle? He wants to sit up to take it. We have no idea how our babysitters feed him, but Nathan was used to holding Baxter in a cradle position (similar to how he nurses) and feeding him a bottle, and he was just bucking against that. Last night Nathan tried the bottle and Baxter played with it until Nathan shifted, moved Baxter into more of a sitting position--and Baxter promptly sucked the bottle dry! He is a big boy, and apparently wants to take his bottle like a big boy. I don't care how he does it, as long as he does!
In other news, I promise multiple posts with lots of pictures coming soon. Nathan's parents came up this weekend and brought furniture for our house, and while they were here, Nathan and his dad finished our tree fort in the backyard. It looks amazing, and I can't wait to show you pictures! Come back soon.
