Saturday, August 26, 2006, was my baby shower. The shower combined friends from work, friends from church, family (my mom, sister and sister-in-law) and general "unaffliated friends"--though I cannot give an exact count of those present, I think we had 30 or more people there. That made for fun parking--the neighborhood where the shower was held also held a kids triathlon that day! There were cars everywhere!
My hostesses put a lot of thought and effort into planning a shower that I would enjoy. It was a 'brunch' shower, and I can honestly say I ate a little bit of everything there (since I am picky, that was a wonderful treat). Thanks ladies!
After starting off with prayer and food, I basically 'dove' into opening gifts! There were lots of them, so I have included some pictures for you to enjoy:-)
Since my little girl is a Georgia peach, this gift bag is perfect.
I love the girlie "G" on this burb cloth!
Thanks to my sister Ruth for taking all these pictures (these are the gifts from her).
Georgia will be extremely stylish in her Ralph Lauren baby outfit. TOO Cute!
Georgia now has her Christmas outfit!
Bath toys are so much fun :-)
My mom made this blanket for Georgia--I love the bright colors and extremely soft texture. My little girl will love playing with the fringe as well!
This shower had many wonderful moments, both extremely sweet and extremely funny. For instance, when I opened the gift from Charlotte Akin, there were a set of car keys in the gift bag! She had accidentally tossed her keys into the bag when she walked into the house. I was quite disappointed that my gift was not actually her GMC Envoy :-( Though there were not any 'real' shower games, we did all wear nametags with different baby "things" (diapers, bottles, crib, diaper change, toys, etc) on them. The goal was to call everyone by their nametag and not their proper name. If they used the proper name, they had to put money in Georgia's First Piggy Bank. It was fun--I want the funds for my daughter, so I called everyone by their real name:-) Of course, gifts and fun moments aside, it was the people that made the shower special. My next post will be pictures of some of those important people at the shower (but not all of them, because I do not have a picture of everyone who attended, or who wished they could be present but were not!).
