What the kids eat when Daddy's not home

Snack dinner! It usually involves fruit (often apples), pretzels, and cheese (right now we are on a string cheese kick). The kids love it, especially since they get to eat their snack dinner on the picnic blanket on the living room floor watching a movie or television. It's lots of fun, and super easy while Daddy is away.

Love it! We do "snacks for dinner" almost every Thursday night when Mark works evenings :) The "picnic" idea is a good one that I'm going to have to try with my girls... they will love it!

You are doing great and are wonderful parents. Feeding kids in this day and age is tough and you are giving them a fairly healthy option, glad to see the apple and cheese! Keep it up!

My kids beg for snack dinners, and our favorite place to eat it is outside!

If you can come up with 6 different things, try a snack dinner in a 6-cup muffin tin. We did that for a picnic with L a few years ago, and he *loved* it! (Can't take credit for the idea; saw it years ago on some website I can't recall now.) A friend tries to have "muffin tin dinners" once a month that are themed in some way (color, country, shape, etc). I wish I was that creative!
